Somos de Acá
La actual crisis migratoria se observa como una gran masa que se moviliza por la urgencia del escape junto a la esperanza de conseguir nuevas oportunidades. El artista colombo-chileno Andrés Parra / Nia de Indias, no tiene intención de teorizar sobre este fenómeno mundial o hacerse cargo de la situación país, sino más bien, mostrar la necesidad de alguien que busca reconectar con sus raíces después de más de una década fuera de su “lugar de origen”.
¿Qué significa ser colombiano? ¿Cómo se pertenece a un nuevo país? ¿Qué es lo que llevamos de “nuestra patria” cuando emigramos? ó ¿Cómo es la experiencia de ser migrante? Son algunas de las preguntas que sus obras amplían, en donde los relatos de 40 familias colombianas en Chile se cruzan con su propia experiencia, intentando recuperar una memoria desgastada que, a causa de la distancia y el pasar del tiempo, puede llevar al migrante a sentir que no es parte ni del lugar en dónde está ni de dónde proviene.
Tal como ese sujeto del que habla el poeta Bertolt Brecht cuando dice “me parezco al que llevaba el ladrillo consigo para mostrar al mundo como era su casa”, Andrés sostiene la identidad de su país materno para desplegarnos, sin reservas, la dualidad de su propia individualidad.
Esa esencia que emerge del intermedio se ve aumentada por los espacios en los que el artista camina. Andrés es Nia y viceversa, pero a su vez no es totalmente ninguno de los dos. No se siente ni tan masculino ni tan femenino, ni tan chileno ni tan colombiano.
Es un poco de todo, matices.
De ahí esta soltura con la que transita. Una libertad que lo ha llevado a cuestionar figuras e íconos impuestos en nuestra sociedad, sin dejar de homenajear a quienes también, desde sus márgenes, lucharon a través del arte.

What does it mean to be Colombian? How does one belong to a new country? What do we take with us from “our homeland” when we emigrate? or, How is the experience of being a migrant? These are some of the questions that his works address, where the stories of 40 Colombian families in Chile intersect with their own experience, trying to recover a worn-out memory that, due to distance and the passage of time, can lead the migrant to feel that you are not part of where you are or where you come from.
Just like that subject that the poet Bertolt Brecht speaks of when he says "I look like the one who carried the brick with him to show the world what his house was like", Andrés maintains the identity of his mother country to unreservedly display the duality of his own individuality.
That essence that emerges from the intermission is increased by the spaces in which the artist walks. Andrés is Nia and vice versa, but at the same time he is not totally either of them. He doesn't feel so masculine or so feminine, neither so Chilean nor so Colombian.
It's a bit of everything, nuances.
Hence this ease with which it travels. A freedom that has led him to question figures and icons imposed on our society, while paying homage to those who also, from their margins, fought through art.
